It’s been a relaxing weekend thus far and there’s nothing on the horizon to change that course. Friday night we went to see “The Bucket List” which we both loved, loved, loved – what’s not to like about 2 phenomenal actors like Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman and at our stage of life, we can appreciate the meaning of having your own Bucket List. One of my first posts in January 2007 referred to my Life List and I haven’t made changes to it since then. Perhaps now is the opportune time to review and edit – and cross off an item or two that has been accomplished or delete something that’s no longer a big deal. We talked on the way home about our own Bucket List and decided that while there are a lot of things to do, we know we have hit all the biggies in life thus far – which is measured by our faith, our marriage, our kids and our grandkids and our friends. After that, it’s all just more toppings on the ice cream sundae of life.
Yesterday I went to the gym to do weights, stopped at She’s Crafty for some yarn and then came home to do some indoor cycling and finish a wonderful book – “Water for Elephants” by Sarah Gruen. The book was a fascinating insight into the 1930’s with traveling circuses as entertainment, high unemployment and hobo enclaves. The author’s notes at the end added even more insight to this particular period in our history. I highly recommend it.
Last evening we had a late Valentine’s Day celebration at Steak and Ale which is one of our favorite spots for a “nice but not too expensive” dinner. Usually we have fantastic service but last evening left a lot to be desired – nothing in particular just a general attitude of indifference on the part of our waitress. When the general manager made his rounds, we remarked that her game was off last evening – not to score free food or drink but just as an FYI. He apparently appreciate our concerns because we left with coupons for $10 in free food on our next visit. Nice touch.
Today we’ve been to church, worked out and are now getting ready to meet friends to see “Michael Clayton” and catch dinner together. In between all these activities, I have knitted a beret for friend Bev and lined up the next knitting project – a felted purse for me for spring – navy with bright yellow stripes! Wish I had time to take the sock knitting class at She’s Crafty but that will have to wait for next year.
Good flicks, great book, knitting, working out, good food, friends, my hubby – all the elements of a wonderful weekend!
