And to think I was once a confirmed bachelorette! When I arrived home tonight, minus any gray hair and freshly coiffed, the dining room table was set with the good china and silver, the wine was breathing and dinner was ready. After dinner we exchanged gifts and I realized that his talents extend beyond cooking, emptying wastebaskets and the dishwasher – he also listens! I opened my gift and there was the book rack for a bicycle – and downstairs he had already set up my bike on the indoor trainer complete with the wooden block he made for the front wheel.
As soon as I cleaned up from dinner I was downstairs on that bike with a book (”Water For Elephants”) and found out it’s a lot harder to pedal on a stationary bike than out riding on the roads. For one thing, I’m on the flats and I don’t get to coast – I just have to keep going which I did for almost 30 minutes. Whew! That’s a good workout but just what I needed – best of all I can multi-task by reading while I get my exercise. And I sure can’t do that while out on the roads.
I still hope we avoid more ice, sleet and freezing rain this weekend but if it happens, I’ll be warm and toasty inside racking up lots of training for the MS150 next September.
Had a great program on MySpace today at Rotary – until the fire alarm went off halfway through the program and we had to exit the building. It was my first introduction to this social phenomenon so I’d love to hear from any of my readers about it – do you have a page on it, what do you like/dislike about it, any tips/hints you care to share.
